What is a Secret Santa gift exchange?

Secret Santa is one of the classic Christmas games, and great for Christmas parties! Aka Kris Kringle in Australia and New Zealand, and Chris Kindle in Ireland, Secret Santa is widely used in offices, large families, and amongst friends at Christmas time.

Secret Santa lets you share the fun of giving and receiving, without the stress and expense of buying for everyone!

Everyone in the Secret Santa gift exchange is randomly assigned another group member to buy for, so that everyone gives one gift and receives one gift in return.

Why SledgeCrash?

We've been doing Secret Santa Christmas gift exchange games with friends for years and have always had a lot of fun! For some time we've used a bit of desktop python script to do our name draw and despatch our assignments via email. This year we have finally got round to building a simple web application to do the job!

SledgeCrash is a quick and easy way of organising your Secret Santa Christmas gift exchange games and is now available FREE to anyone who wants to get the ball rolling on festive gift exchanges with friends, family or co-workers!

All you need is an email address and name/nickname for everyone in your group. Sledgecrash will do the rest!

How does Sledgecrash help?

With SledgeCrash there's no need to meet up to draw names out of a hat, or risk of anyone drawing their own name. This makes it easy to get your Secret Santa assignments out quickly and give everyone time to come up with original and imaginative present ideas!

Assignments are sent out via top secret email! You can also set a spend limit, and a gift exchange date for your group, but the most important thing is WHO each person is buying for.

Since everyone only has to buy ONE gift they have more chance of coming up with something extra special, and of receiving something special in return! Once we each know who we're buying for we can start thinking creatively about the Perfect Present! Which makes the unwrapping and guessing parts all the more fun!
